Christmas Gifts

With Christmas fast approaching I've put my knitting lessons aside to whip up some crocheted Christmas presents. I've often thought of making gifts for Christmas but have always assumed that it would be far too time consuming during such a busy time of the year. However, this year I believe I've found the solution to quick and easy homemade Christmas gifts. I've purchased the thickest yarns I could find at my local Spotlight store and some large crochet hooks; and I'm whipping up some scarfs.

My patterns include:

  • 2 x 100g balls of Moda Vera Gabriela with a 12mm crochet hook. Row 1: ch 4, dc in 2nd ch from hook and in each remaining ch, turn. Row 2 till end: ch 1 (counts as first dc), miss 1st dc, dc in each st to end, (4 dc), turn. Continue until desired length is achieved, fasten off and weave in ends. The width of this scarf is approximately 10cm.
  • 2 x 100g balls of Moda Vera Hope with a 10mm crochet hook. Row 1: ch 9, dc in 2nd ch from hook and in each remaining ch, turn. Row 2 till end: ch 1 (counts as first dc), miss 1st dc, dc in each st to end, (9 dc), turn. Continue until desired length is achieved, fasten off and weave in ends. The width of this scarf is approximately 10cm.
  • 4 x 50g balls of Moda Vera Marshmallow with a 12mm crochet hook. Row 1: ch 10, dc in 2nd ch from hook and in each remaining ch, turn. Row 2 till end: ch 1 (counts as first dc), miss 1st dc, dc in each st to end, (10 dc), turn. Continue until desired length is achieved, fasten off and weave in ends. The width of this scarf is approximately 10cm.
I've completed a couple of these already and have found that each one can be completed quickly in only 1-2 evenings whilst sitting in front of the TV. I can't wait to see my friends wearing them :)
