Book Club: Hope Unfolding ~ Chapter 9: The Father's Love for a Momma's Heart

Hope Unfolding Chapter 9 - God Loves You Just as You AreWelcome to Book Club!

...the very same God who formed galaxies and raised the dead to life knows your name and thinks about you. He does. He thinks about how you feel and the deep desires of your heart. He longs to have a relationship with you where you trust him fully and believe that you are accepted by Him - Becky Thompson.

In chapter 9 Becky discusses the love God has for each of us. It is a love that you don't have to earn and that you wont ever lose. God loves you just as your are. His love is unconditional and permanent.

God delights in your presence. He adores you - Becky Thompson.

Sometimes we focus on our failures, the ways that we have messed up or ways that we feel we are lacking, and we believe that we are not good enough for Gods love. Sometimes we believe that God couldn't love us. However, Becky reminds us that we don't ever need to feel like we are not worthy of God's love. His love for us is based not on who we are, but rather who he is and who we are in relation to him.

Becky describes the moment when her son was born and she met him for the first time. In that moment she loved him simply because he was her son. He didn't have to earn her love and he will never lose it. He will always be loved simply because of who he is to her - her son. I feel the same about my kids, and I'm sure you feel the same about yours. We love them because they are our children, regardless of what they say or do. This is also how God feels about us. He loves us unconditionally because of who we are to him.

...scripture says that Christ first loved us ... not because of anything that we do or don't do. Not because of anything that we are or aren't. Not because of what we say, think, feel, or believe. He loves us because of who He is - Becky Thompson.

God's love and compassion are evident throughout scripture. Numerous stories recorded in scripture illustrate that God is true, loving, kind, patient, and faithful. God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. The way he cared for people in scripture is still how he cares for us today. He loves us today as much as he loved them back then.

Becky poses the question, Do you know and believe the truth that God loves you? She goes on to say that when you know and believe that He loves you, everything changes. When you know and accept your place in God's heart, you find peace, hope and strength. God is so much bigger than anything you are facing right now. When we focus on who God is (good, loving, for us, with us etc.), rather than the circumstances that overwhelm us, we can feel strong regardless of the situation.

What did you think of this chapter?
